Fields of Mistria sprinklers are called Water Sprite Statues. To unlock one, break the Water Seal (Level 20), Earth Seal (Level 40), and Fire Seal (Level 60), obtain Dragon’s Breath, and use it to open the blocked cave near the lighthouse. After you place a statue and insert an Essence Stone, it automatically waters a 5×5 crop area every day.

Unlock the Water Sprite Statue
The sprinkler is a late-progression farm helper rather than an early crafting station. Its in-game name is Water Sprite Statue, so search for that name in your crafting and furniture menus instead of waiting for an item literally called “Sprinkler.”
Your unlock route is:
- Reach the Water Seal at Level 20 in the Mines and break it.
- Reach the Earth Seal at Level 40 and break it.
- Reach the Fire Seal at Level 60 and break it.
- Complete the progression that awards Dragon’s Breath after the Fire Seal.
- Travel to the Beach and swim to the eastern side, close to the lighthouse.
- Use Dragon’s Breath on the rocks blocking the cave.
- Open the chest inside to collect a Water Sprite Statue, its recipe, and a Small Essence Stone.
The Fields of Mistria sprinkler is the Water Sprite Statue. To unlock it, break the Water Seal (Level 20), Earth Seal (Level 40), and Fire Seal (Level 60) to obtain Dragon’s Breath, then swim to the Beach cave east of the lighthouse and use Dragon’s Breath to clear the rocks; the chest contains a Water Sprite Statue and its recipe.
Craft additional statues
The first statue from the cave lets you start the system, but a larger farm may need more coverage. GameSpot lists this recipe for each additional Water Sprite Statue:
| Material | Amount |
|---|---|
| Refined stone | 10 |
| Essence | 50 |
| Ash mushroom | 3 |
Each additional Water Sprite Statue costs 10 refined stone, 50 essence, and 3 ash mushroom.
The materials have different progression jobs. Refined stone requires the Stone Refinery, while ash mushrooms come from the Lava Caves biome. GameSpot says the Stone Refinery becomes available after the Renovate the Inn questline and at Town Rank 55. Plan the statue around those gates: unlocking the beach cave gives you the recipe, but it does not mean you already have every ingredient needed to mass-produce statues.
Place and power the sprinkler
For the initial setup, choose the crop block first, then equip an Essence Stone and approach the statue to load it.
The central placement matters. A 5×5 area is a square with the statue occupying the middle tile, so a compact crop block is easier to plan around than a long, thin field. Leave the statue accessible and build the tilled area around its coverage. If you place it at the edge, part of its square reaches unused ground and some of the watering range is wasted.
Place the Water Sprite Statue in the middle of your crop patch, insert an Essence Stone, and it will automatically water a 5×5 area of crops every day. There are four different sizes of Essence Stone, and the Stone Refinery at Town Rank 55 lets you make more using Stone and Essence; interact with the statue to check its remaining power.
Essence Stone planning checklist
Destructoid lists the following Stone Refinery recipes and operating times:
| Essence Stone | Stone | Essence | Water Sprite Statue power |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tiny | 5 | 5 | 1 day |
| Small | 10 | 25 | 5 days |
| Medium | 20 | 50 | 10 days |
| Large | 40 | 100 | 20 days |
Use the smallest stone when you are testing a new layout or only need coverage briefly. Larger stones reduce how often you return to the statue, but they also consume more Stone and Essence in one craft. The key decision is whether you value lower upfront materials or fewer refills; the mechanic does not require a special activation each morning once an Essence Stone is installed.
Before expanding your crop field, check these items:
- Dragon’s Breath is unlocked.
- The Beach cave east of the lighthouse has been opened.
- You have the Water Sprite Statue recipe.
- The Stone Refinery is restored if you need refined stone or crafted Essence Stones.
- The statue has a clear 5×5 crop block around its planned center.
- A spare Essence Stone is ready before the current one is depleted.
Troubleshooting common sprinkler problems
The recipe is missing. Look for the Water Sprite Statue recipe in the chest behind the rocks in the Beach cave. If the rocks remain, continue the Mines progression until you can use Dragon’s Breath; the recipe is not obtained from the ordinary crafting path described by these guides.
The crops are not being watered. Check that an Essence Stone is actually inserted. The statue needs that power source to water its 5×5 area. Interact with the statue to check how much time remains, then replace the stone if it has run out.
You cannot craft another statue. Check the material list first: 10 refined stone, 50 essence, and 3 ash mushroom. If refined stone or Essence Stones are the bottleneck, restore the Stone Refinery at Town Rank 55 as described by Destructoid; ash mushrooms require a trip to the Lava Caves biome.
The field is only partly covered. Re-center the statue on the crop block. The useful target is a 5×5 square, so move the statue before planting a larger patch rather than assuming the device waters the whole farm.
