Fields of Mistria Museum Guide

Complete the Fields of Mistria Museum in version 1.0 with a wing-by-wing collection strategy, 82-set checklist plan, rewards, Honey Set and Terrarium Treasures tips.

The Fields of Mistria Museum can finally be completed in version 1.0. That is the most important change for anyone following an older Early Access checklist: completion is no longer blocked by unreleased sets. The current Museum contains four wings, 82 sets, and 409 total donations. Most sets require five items, while the Legendary Fish Set is the notable four-item exception.

If your goal is 100% completion, do not treat the Museum as something to finish at the end of the game. The fastest route is to donate continuously from Spring Year 1, collect seasonal items before they disappear, and revisit every wing whenever you unlock a new biome, fishing area, archaeology layer, insect mechanic, or late-game feature.

For related progression help, use the Fields of Mistria Map & Locations Guide, Fields of Mistria Crops Guide, Fields of Mistria Calendar, and Fields of Mistria 1.0 Guide. For the two processor-driven 1.0 sets, jump directly to the Apiary & Honey Guide and Terrarium Guide.

The Museum is introduced through Errol's Museum Donations Wanted quest. The building itself is in The Narrows, so it becomes one of the most useful stops on the route between your farm, town, the Western Ruins, and later northern areas. Once donations are available, get into the habit of checking the Museum before selling a newly discovered fish, bug, flower, artifact, or other collectible.

The four Museum wings

The Museum is divided into four collection categories. Each wing rewards you independently based on how many sets you have completed inside that wing.

Archaeology Wing

The Archaeology Wing is where artifacts and other historical finds belong. This wing tends to progress in bursts because many collections depend on unlocking new dig sites, Mines biomes, late-game areas, or archaeology-related mechanics.

A good rule is simple: never sell the first copy of an unfamiliar artifact until you have checked its Museum status. Some artifacts can take much longer to find again than common fish or forageables.

Archaeology rewards also become increasingly valuable as you complete more sets. The current reward track includes treasure boxes, Explorer clothing and furniture, decorative replicas, and later high-tier items and recipes. Because rewards depend on the number of completed sets in the wing rather than one exact named set, steady progress matters more than completing sets in a particular order.

If you are missing late-game archaeology pieces, review your Mines and story progression rather than repeatedly digging the same early area. The deeper Mines and later regions contain collections that simply cannot be finished from the starting map. Start with How to Unlock the Mines and continue to the Floor 90 Puzzle Guide when you reach the Ancient Ruins.

Fish Wing

The Fish Wing is one of the easiest wings to fall behind on because fish availability depends on a combination of season, location, weather, water type, time, and progression.

Whenever a new season begins, make fishing one of your first collection priorities. Check rivers, ponds, the ocean, the Mines, and any new late-game fishing locations you have unlocked. If you postpone a Spring-only fish until Summer, you may have to wait almost an entire in-game year for another chance.

Most Fish sets use five donations, but the Legendary Fish Set requires four. Treat legendary catches as their own long-term project rather than expecting them to appear during normal fishing sessions.

If random rarity is blocking the final entries, Terrarium-produced Fish Bait can narrow the hunt by rarity. It does not remove season or location rules, so use the Terrarium Guide together with the Calendar and Map rather than spending bait blindly.

Flora Wing

The Flora Wing covers plant-based collections such as flowers, forageables, crops, and other botanical items. It is usually the easiest wing to plan systematically because many entries can be collected through farming or predictable seasonal foraging.

At the beginning of every season, grow at least one of each crop you have access to before optimizing the rest of your field for profit. When you harvest a crop for the first time, check whether the Museum needs it before shipping the entire stack.

Do the same with flowers and forageables. Keep one copy of unfamiliar items until you confirm their donation status. If an item grows or spawns only in one season, missing it can create a large delay in an otherwise nearly complete Museum.

The Crops Guide covers seed access, regrowing crops, Seed Maker use, and seasonal planning. As your field expands, the Water Sprite Statue Guide can reduce watering time so collection work does not compete with the entire morning.

Insects Wing

The Insects Wing is broader than the name suggests. Bugs are its core focus, but version 1.0 also added two important final sets: Honey Set and Terrarium Treasures Set.

These two additions are especially important because older Early Access guides may stop before them or state that the Museum cannot be fully completed. That advice is now outdated.

The Honey Set connects Museum completion to the Apiary system. It requires Honey, Premium Honey, Deluxe Honey, Legendary Honey, and Honeycomb. Bee rarity controls the honey tier, while Honeycomb is a chance-based harvest. Use the Apiary & Honey Guide for the complete production route.

The Terrarium Treasures Set connects the Museum to Terrarium-related content. Terrariums also create Fish Bait and Bug Pheromones that can help target rarity gaps elsewhere in the collection. This is why a pure “catch every wild bug” strategy is no longer enough for efficient full completion.

What changed in version 1.0?

Version 1.0 made three Museum changes that matter for completionists.

First, the Museum can now be completed. Any guide that says full completion is impossible is describing an Early Access version of the game.

Second, NPC Studio added two new Museum sets and associated rewards: Honey Set and Terrarium Treasures Set. These belong to the expanded insect collection path and close part of the remaining completion gap.

Third, you can now enter Museum Wing rooms and view your collection. That makes the Museum more than a donation menu; the completed displays are now something you can physically inspect.

The donation UI was also improved so that Museum Set Complete notifications appear directly after the relevant donation popup, making it clearer when a set has actually finished.

Best route to 100% Museum completion

The most efficient strategy is not to grind one wing at a time. Instead, organize your play around missable windows and progression gates.

1. Prioritize seasonal items first

Fish, insects, flowers, crops, and forageables can disappear when the season changes. These should always outrank items that remain obtainable year-round.

On the first week of each season:

  • plant at least one of every crop you can access;
  • forage every region at least once;
  • fish in every major water type;
  • catch unfamiliar insects immediately;
  • check festival and weather-dependent opportunities.

Your Fields of Mistria Calendar is useful here because festivals and special dates can interrupt normal routing.

2. Donate the first copy before selling

A very common completion mistake is selling a rare first copy because its Tesserae value looks attractive. That can be harmless for common crops, but painful for rare artifacts, seasonal fish, or uncommon insects.

Use a “first copy goes to the Museum” rule until your checklist is nearly complete. Once an item is registered, future copies can safely become money, crafting materials, gifts, recipes, Apiary inputs, or Terrarium inputs.

3. Re-check the Museum after every major unlock

Whenever you unlock a new area or mechanic, assume it may contain new Museum items.

Important progression points include:

  • deeper Mines biomes;
  • the Western Ruins and story-locked map changes;
  • the Deep Woods;
  • apiaries and honey production;
  • terrariums;
  • late-game archaeology locations;
  • new fishing areas;
  • post-Mines progression.

If your Museum stalls at 90% or higher, your problem is often not bad luck. It may be an entire system you have not engaged with yet.

4. Use the Museum tracker to identify the wing, then the set

Do not search the whole game for “one missing item.” First identify the wing, then the set, then determine the source category.

For example, a missing Insects entry in Honey Set sends you toward Apiary content, while a missing rare Fish entry may send you toward Terrarium Fish Bait and the correct seasonal location. Narrowing the search this way saves far more time than random farming.

Museum, Renown, and broader progression

Museum work also belongs inside the Town progression loop rather than outside it. Donations contribute Renown while Town Rank unlocks systems that make later collection easier. That means a player pushing toward Mistril Rank should not postpone the Museum until after Level 100.

Use the Town Rank and Renown Guide to coordinate Museum donations with quests, shipping, Crown Requests, Stillwell missions, and Town Repair milestones. The most efficient completion save advances both tracks together: new areas produce new donations, donations add Renown, and higher Rank unlocks more systems and locations.

Museum rewards: how they actually work

Each completed set advances that wing's reward track. Rewards are based on the number of sets completed in the wing, not the exact identity of the set you completed last.

Early rewards typically include themed clothing and lower-tier treasure boxes. Later milestones add furniture, recipes, cosmetic items, and higher-value rewards. Archaeology, Fish, Flora, and Insects each have their own themed progression.

This means there is no need to obsess over completing one particular set first unless you need a specific donation for another reason. In general, complete whichever sets are easiest while continuing to collect rare seasonal items in parallel.

Some individual donations can also unlock other content such as cooking recipes, so donating has value even before an entire set is finished. Keep the Recipes Guide nearby if you are trying to coordinate collection and cooking completion.

Museum completion reward bug in early 1.0

If you completed the Museum immediately after 1.0 launched and did not receive the expected completion letter, make sure your game is updated.

Patch v1.0.3 specifically fixed an issue where players did not receive the letter reward for completing the Museum. If your collections are already complete, update to a current version and advance the game normally before assuming your save is permanently broken.

Common reasons your Museum is not complete

An old guide says the Museum cannot be finished. That was true during Early Access, but version 1.0 explicitly made the Museum completable.

You are missing two Insects sets. Check Honey Set and Terrarium Treasures Set. Both were added in 1.0.

You have every common fish but the Fish Wing is incomplete. Check seasonal, weather-specific, location-specific, Mines, and legendary fish rather than repeating the same river route. Use Terrarium bait when rarity is the problem.

Your Flora Wing is missing one item. Review each season's crops, flowers, and forageables. A single missed seasonal item can force a long wait.

Your Archaeology Wing is stuck. Progress the story and unlock new dig areas or Mines biomes. Do not assume every artifact can spawn in the early Dig Site.

You finished everything but received no completion letter. Update past v1.0.3, which fixed that specific reward-delivery bug.

Museum completion checklist

Use this condensed route when you want to push toward 100%:

  • Unlock the Museum through Errol's Museum Donations Wanted quest.
  • Donate the first copy of every unfamiliar collectible.
  • Check seasonal fish before each season ends.
  • Check seasonal insects before each season ends.
  • Grow at least one of every crop.
  • Collect seasonal flowers and forageables.
  • Dig artifacts in every unlocked archaeology area.
  • Revisit the Museum after each new Mines biome.
  • Complete Apiary content for the Honey Set.
  • Complete Terrarium content for Terrarium Treasures and rarity-targeting tools.
  • Review all four wings instead of focusing on one category.
  • Update to a current patch if your completion reward is missing.
